Yorns ink first-look deal at Fox
EmptyThe production arm of Rick and Julie Yorn's new production-management company has signed a two-year first-look deal with Fox.
The unnamed company, which will not be based on the lot, will produce features across multiple genres. Although no projects have been set up yet at the studio, the company has an adaptation of the thriller novel "Beat the Reaper" at Regency, to be co-produced by Appian Way.
The company has hired longtime Silver Pictures exec Erik Olsen, who served as senior vp and oversaw such pics as the in- production Denzel Washington actioner "The Book of Eli" and the upcoming horror thriller "Orphan." Olsen will help build the company's new feature side.
The Yorns recently struck out on their own after many years of being principals, along with Jeff Kwatinetz, at the now-defunct the Firm. The Firm's production arm, run by Julie Yorn, had a deal with Fox as well, resulting in such films as "Max Payne" and "Bride Wars." Julie Yorn is involved with those titles and will serve as their producer. (partialdiff)
