Google's YouTube FanFest is set to make its North American debut in Toronto in May.

YouTube stars Jenna Marbles, Michael Stevens, Kurt Hugo Schneider and Bethany Mota will headline the one-day talent showcase on May 2 after earlier FanFests in India, Singapore, Australia and Japan. Laura Lee, head of North American content partnerships for YouTube, said Canada will host the continent's first FanFest because of its early loyalty to the online video upload site.

"I like to say Canadians were two to three years ahead of the curve vis-a-vis the U.S. audience in terms of broadband adoption years ago, and now consumption of YouTube content,” Lee said in a statement Tuesday. Canadians spend an average 35 hours per month viewing video content online on their desktop computer, and viewing on smartphones and tablets is growing rapidly, according to comScore.

YouTube's FanFest hitting North America is only the latest live event with YouTube stars to target young audiences after its was announced New York City will play host to Stream Con NYC, produced by LeftField Media, for three days beginning Oct. 30.
