HONG KONG -- MTV Networks China has announced the promotion of Bobby Yuan to general manager of MTV China with immediate effect. Yuan will relocate to Guangzhou from Taipei, where he was formerly general manager of MTV Taiwan.

"We are excited to have Bobby on board spearheading our 24-hour service of MTV channels to enhance the brand's profile both in the Guangdong province and across China," MTV Networks China executive vp and managing director Li Yifei said. "I'm confident that he will catalyze further growth and break new ground for our businesses, leading the channel into the next stage of growth in Southern China."

During Yuan's stint at MTV Taiwan, he was responsible for staging the MTV Mandarin Awards and significantly boosting advertising revenue.

Previously, Yuan held executive positions at Yam Digital Technology and Pacific Digital Media.

At MTV China, he will oversea business operations and report directly to Li Yifei. MTV is currently the only global brand with a 24-hour channel in the Guangdong Province, available to 13.1 million TV households in China. They also produce and syndicate programming in 459 cities across the country, reaching more than 181 million households.
