Zachary Quinto Applauded by Fans for Coming Out

Zachary Quinto is earning praise from fans for publicly acknowledging his homosexuality for the first time.
Over the weekend, Quinto -- known for his roles in the TV series Heroes and the recent Star Trek reboot -- spoke about being gay in an interview with New York magazine as well as in a blog post on his website, saying he was motivated to do so after learning of the death of Jamey Rodemeyer, the gay teen who committed suicide last month after years of being bullied.

“In light of Jamey's death," he wrote, "it became clear to me in an instant that living a gay life without publicly acknowledging it is simply not enough to make any significant contribution to the immense work that lies ahead on the road to complete equality."
