“In the age of Donald Trump," joked host Alec Baldwin, "This is horseshit's heyday."

“While the cream of the crop of the ad industry gathers together to celebrate,” said CLIO Awards host Alex Baldwin, “unpaid social media interns post horrific things to your brands' Twitter accounts.”

The actor poked fun at what he called “the toughest year in advertising” to date: “In the age of Donald Trump, ... This is horseshit's heyday.” Still, the year also brought Periscope and Meerkat, “or exciting new words to say in client meetings and never mention again.”

The ceremony also included awards presentations by Matthew Weiner and Melissa Etheridge, and performances by X Ambassadors and Salt-N-Pepa. Among the winners was the Between Two Ferns interview with Zach Galifianakis and president Barack Obama, with Funny or Dieʼs Brad Jenkins suggesting that the CLIO team ship the statue to the White House and its rightful owner.
