Zahn moves to Investigation Discovery
Inks deal to develop weekly newsmagazineCable network Investigation Discovery has signed former CNN anchor Paula Zahn to an exclusive deal to develop a weekly newsmagazine.
Under the agreement, Zahn and producing partners Scott Weinberger of Weinberger Media and Scott Sternberg of Scott Sternberg Prods. will create an investigative series for the network.
Zahn is co-host of "Sunday Arts" on New York City's PBS station. If greenlighted, the Discovery project will debut this year and mark the first full-fledged on-air news position Zahn has accepted since leaving CNN in 2007.
"I am excited to join Investigation Discovery to create a series that's driven by compelling storytelling," Zahn said. "The process of uncovering the truth is something I have always been passionate about."
Added Deborah Adler Myers, senior vp programming at Discovery Emerging Networks: "Paula's investigative drive makes her a perfect fit for ID. We're excited to work with her to develop a weekly series that looks at both headline-making cases and the intriguing stories that no one else has covered."
Zahn would be the latest in a string of former anchors finding jobs on new cable networks, including Dan Rather joining HDNet and Ted Koppel going to BBC America.
