Zayn Malik Leaves One Direction World Tour Due to Stress
The band will play Manila and Jakarta as a foursome.
Zayn Malik has been forced to quit the Asian leg of One Direction's world tour due to stress, the BBC reports.
A statement said: "Zayn has been signed off with stress and is flying back to the UK to recuperate.
"The band wish him well and will continue with their performances in Manila and Jakarta."
The U.K. and Irish boy band played Hong Kong on March 18 as part of their On the Road Again world tour, but Malik tweeted out a cryptic message that day that appeared to be making reference to pictures of him holding hands with another woman, and not his girlfriend and Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards.
I'm 22 years old... I love a girl named Perrie Edwards. And there's a lot of jealous fucks in this world I'm sorry for what it looks like x— zaynmalik1D (@zaynmalik) March 18, 2015
The tabloid focus on Malik's relationship has been intense, and Malik along with bandmate Louis Tomlinson came under further scrutiny and the threat of being fined almost $4,500 each if they were caught using or promoting illegal drugs in the Philippines.
The BBC reports the pair were asked to post bonds of 200,000 pesos each for a special work permit, ahead of two concerts in the Philippine capital Manila this weekend.
