ZDF Neo gives '30 Rock' free-TV German debut
Digital reboot of public broadcaster's docu niche channelBERLIN -- Emmy champ "30 Rock" will get its German free-TV debut on digital channel ZDF Neo, a reboot of the public broadcaster's documentary niche channel ZDF Dokukanal.
ZDF Neo goes on air Nov.1 and will cover a rare German platform for U.S. and U.K. series appealing to a more niche audience than "House" or "C.S.I."
The USA Network's "In Plain Sight," which stars Mary McCormack as a U.S. Marshal working in the witness protection program, will have its German free-TV premiere on ZDF Neo. As will BBC series "Taking The Flak," a media satire set in a fictional Central African country, con-artist drama "Hustle" and long-running spy series "Spooks."
The channel's new lineup will also include reruns of "Seinfeld," which never found an audience on the mainstream German networks in its original run.
