Zodiak delivers 'Holiday' format to BBC1
New series for the British market by Diverse ProductionsCANNES -- Pan-European producer distributor Zodiak Entertainment is heading for a U.K. vacation after signing a deal for its "Save My Holiday" format with BBC1.
The daytime show, which has already proved a success with audiences in Belgium and the Netherlands, will be developed and produced as a brand new series for the British market by Diverse Productions, part of the Zodiak Entertainment network of global production outfits.
The 15 x 45 minute reality format has been commissioned by BBC1 Daytime controller Liam Keelan, and will debut in the autumn.
The Dutch version aired on SBS6 in The Netherlands where it doubled audience share for the slot -- produced and created by Zodiak Entertainment's local prodco Palm Plus. It has also been commissioned for a third season and has been picked up for a second series by VTM in Belgium.
The show ships out a fleet of experts to come to the aid of holiday-makers confronted by bad hotels, sick children and rude staff, with the experts and travel specialists confronting shady hotel operators, travel agents and restaurateurs and turning around a nightmare holiday experience.
"With just a few weeks holiday allowance the norm almost all over the world it is so important for us all to have perfection said Matthieu Porte, head of format sales at Zodiak Entertainment. "This U.K. commission confirms that this great series has incredible international potential."
