LONDON — European independent production firm Zodiak Media has named Rod Henwood CEO of Zodiak U.K., Belgium and the Netherlands.

Henwood joins the company behind such shows as The Inbetweeners following senior management roles at Britain’s Channel 4, ITV’s Central Television and Fox Kids Europe, among others.

In 2011, he helped launch J.K. Rowling’s Pottermore, the digital extension of the Harry Potter universe, in partnership with Sony.

Most recently, he ran kids online social world Bin Weevils as CEO and a founding investor.

“Henwood’s responsibilities will include leading Zodiak Media’s companies in the U.K., including RDF Television, Bwark, IWC, Touchpaper, Comedy Unit and Red House in the U.K., in addition to Kanakna in Belgium and Zodiak Netherlands,” the company said.

“Rod is a widely respected leader in the U.K. TV sector and has been responsible for industry-defining ventures and digital innovations,” said Zodiak Media CEO Marc-Antoine d’Halluin. “His experience in driving growth and transforming businesses in both the digital and broadcast sectors makes him an ideal candidate to drive the division forward into its next exciting phase.”

Said Henwood: “I am excited about returning to the TV sector and to be joining Zodiak. Our U.K. production companies have tremendous pedigrees, and I look forward to leading the U.K., Belgium and Netherlands division to its next phase of growth.”

He added: “Zodiak Media is now the leading European nonaligned independent TV production group, with tremendous talent and strong IPs. I relish the challenge of helping it expand its genres and international coverage, create new formats and extend its relevance in digital.”
