Former Zodiak USA CEO Grant Mansfield Launches Production Company
Plimsoll Productions will focus on reality and wildlife programming for U.K. and U.S. broadcasters.
Grant Mansfield, who was most recently CEO of Zodiak USA, has launched a production company focusing on reality and wildlife programming.
Plimsoll Productions, which will have offices in Bristol and London, will create and produce programming targeted at U.K. and U.S. broadcasters.
In the formation of the company, Mansfield — who will serve as CEO — has appointed Gavin Henderson as creative director, Martha Holmes as executive producer for wildlife, Kate Beetham as executive producer for reality and Christine Owen as managing director. They will all report to Mansfield.
“Between us, the Plimsoll team has a long track record for producing a raft of international hit series in the non-scripted space,” said Mansfield in a statement. “Working with our broadcast partners on both sides of the Atlantic, we’re confident that there are plenty more to come.”
At Zodiak USA, Mansfield executive produced Secret Millionaire, Celebrity Wife Swap, Hardcore Pawn and Killer Karaoke. Prior to that, he served as managing director of London's RDF, where he developed and produced Ladette to Lady, Holiday Showdown, Oz and James's Big Wine Adventure, Gene Simmons' Rock School and Dickinson's Real Deal. Mansfield also worked at Granada TV, where he launched I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here.
As creative director, Henderson will be responsible for creating and producing original series. He previously was executive producer at the BBC's Natural History unit, the creative director of Big Brother and Endemol West. Holmes, who joins from BBC's Natural History department, will be responsible for creating science shows. Beetham, who was an executive producer in BBC's Features department, will focus on reality and docuseries programming. Owen, who previously held senior positions at independent TV companies like RDF West, will oversee administrative, financial and legal aspects of the business.
