Zooey Deschanel, Joel McHale Hosting 2012 Writers Guild Awards

Partnering the "New Girl" and "Community" star, the L.A. outing of the WGA show takes place Feb. 19.
The 2012 Writers Guild Awards, held in two parts in Los Angeles and New York, firmed up hosts for its Hollywood outing. The WGA announced Wednesday that Zooey Deschanel and Joel McHale will share the stage for the west coast event.
“I love that I’m working with the stars of New Girl and Community," said ceremony EP Spike Jones, Jr. "As Abed might say on Community, ‘This is going to be the greatest sitcom crossover since The Jeffersons visited Fresh Prince of Bel Air.’”

McHale took a similarly humorous route in his reaction. “I'm deeply excited to co-host the WGA Awards with Zooey Deschanel," he said. "She has that rare combination in that she's beautiful, funny, and smells good. Without writers, movies and TV would be worse than untreated syphilis, so I'm thrilled to hand these fine people awards for their great work."
His co-host took a more sincere route. “I am excited to host the WGA awards," Deschanel said. "It should be a lot of fun! I am very honored to be included."
The event, taking place Sunday, Feb. 19, at the Hollywood Palladium, will honor achievements in original screenplay, adapted screenplay and documentary screenplay. Light-hearted features 50/50, Bridesmaids, Midnight in Paris, Win Win and Young Adult dominate the originals category this year.
