Zooey Deschanel Sings National Anthem at World Series (Video)
The "New Girl" star kept it simple with her rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner" at Game 4.
Zooey Deschanel didn’t show off any crazy vocal runs during her performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner” at Game 4 of The World Series. The star of Fox’s New Girl kept her performance simple and sweet, while also avoiding any embarrassing flubs that have plagued past performers including Christina Aguilera and Cyndi Lauper.

Deschanel, who is also one half of the indie pop duo She & Him, sang the national anthem at the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Texas, dressed in a red dress in front of a packed stadium.

Deschanel has kept busy, currently starring in Fox’s new comedy New Girl as Jess, an awkward 20-something woman who moves in with three male roommates after she’s dumped by her cheating boyfriend. The show became the first series of the fall season to get a full season pickup.
On the music side, Deschanel’s band will release a holiday album, A Very She & Him Christmas, on Tuesday, Oct. 25. This is their third album.
VIDEO: 'American Idol's Scotty McCreery Flubs National Anthem at World Series
The National Anthem has been a source of much drama for several singers over the years who have slipped up on the words. Just last week, American Idol's Scotty McCreery had to start his song over after a microphone malfunction at Game 1 of the World Series Wednesday night. He was also criticized for apparently singing, "No Jose does that Star Spangled banner yet wave" instead of "Oh say does that Star Spangled Banner yet wave."
Other flubs over the years have included Christina Aguilera at the Super Bowl, Cyndi Lauper at the U.S. Open and Steven Tyler at the Indy 500.
