Prince Frederic von Anhalt -- better known as Zsa Zsa Gabor's ninth husband -- could be the next mayor of Los Angeles in 2013.
The 68-year-old announced his bid for mayoral run via billboard on Sunset Blvd earlier this week. The ad features a photograph of von Anhalt smiling and pointing, with text that reads: "Get Los Angeles Back to Work…. Lower Taxes…. Lower DWP Bills."
"We have 400,000 unemployed people, 40,000 homeless people, almost thousand people eating out of trash cans every day," he said during an interview with ABC 7. "You know, talking about unemployed people -- probably unemployed people are unemployed because they don't want to go to work because they are sick and tired of getting headaches, you know, when they drive to work. So that's probably why they stay at home."
"I want to fix the streets because I get a headache myself," he continued.
In a press release on his website, von Anhalt hopes to make Gabor the "First Lady of the City of Angels." His campaign platform includes revitalizing Los Angeles, creating jobs, lowing utility bills, ending homelessness, encouraging illegal immigrants to become legal, cutting taxes, cutting film industry permit costs and fixing the city's infrastructure.
von Anhalt ran for Governor of California back in 2010, but withdrew his candidacy due to Gabor's failing health. His 94-year-old wife was hospitalized on Saturday, Oct. 8 after losing consciousness due to high fever, the LA Times reports.
