Art Directors Guild Nominations Announced
The ceremony will take place Feb. 2 at the Beverly Hilton.
Fifteen films, divided among three different categories, have been nominated for the 17th annual Art Directors Guild Excellence in Production Design Awards. The nominees were announced Wednesday night.
The nominees for best period design include four entries that depict life in the 19th century -- Anna Karenina, Django Unchained, Les Miserables and Lincoln -- as well as one movie reflecting the more recent past, Argo.

In the contemporary film category, the contenders include Flight, Skyfall, The Best Exotic Margiold Hotel, The Impossible and Zero Dark Thirty.
Surveying fantasy films, the ADG nominated Cloud Atlas, Life of Pi, Prometheus, The Dark Knight Rises and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
The honors recognize production design in nine categories of film, TV and commercials and music videos. The ceremony, with Paula Poundstone serving as host for the fourth consecutive year, is set to take place Feb. 2 at the Beverly Hilton.
Production designer Herman Zimmerman will be the recipient of the Guild's Lifetime Achievement Award. Hall of Fame inductees are Preston Ames, Richard MacDonald and Edward S. Stephenson. The production designers behind the James Bond franchise -- Ken Adam, Allan Cameron, Dennis Gassner and Peter Lamont -- will be honored for outstanding contribution to cinematic imagery.
The nominees were announced by ADG council chair John Schaffner and awards co-producers Greg Grande and Raf Lydon.
