Misty Upham, a 32-year-old Native-American actress and activist who is best known for her roles in the films Frozen River and August: Osage County, has been reported missing by her family.

Upham, who appears in the forthcoming Jennifer Aniston drama Cake, was last seen leaving her sister's apartment in Muckleshoot, Wash., on Oct. 5, her family said in a Facebook post. Police officials told Reuters that they responded to a suicide call at the apartment, but Upham was not there when they arrived. Her father reported her missing Oct. 6.

On Oct. 9, Jaime Rubio, describing himself as "one of her closest friends," posted to her Facebook wall: "Misty Upham is missing," adding that Upham's father, Charles Upham, was filing a missing person report and that his own "best guess as to where [Misty] is, considering her disappearance, is actually within forests/woods of Seattle, WA because she was a huge fan of nature."

On Friday, "the Upham family" posted a status on her Facebook account, stating: "Misty is still missing. … We requested that the Washington State Endangered Missing Person plan be implemented. The Detective said supervisors on the case are considering this request but feel it does meet the criteria at this time. We tried to organize a search party from the Muckleshoot tribe [which Upham recently visited] but they do not have funding available at this time. They offered to do an email blast to all their employees with her missing poster. Right now it's just her father and brother searching." The posting also noted that Upham's parents were in poor physical and financial condition and solicited support from her friends.

The family posted an update shortly thereafter: "Due to negative comments we are no longer requesting financial support. … We are very heartbroken and afraid at this point. Please do not post any negative comments, it is hard enough to deal with our missing daughter, we don't need the added accusations or blame. Just know we are doing everything within our means to bring our daughter home safe. If you have any information that could be helpful please contact detective Orvis at the Auburn PD (253) 288-2121 [case #14-13189]. Or family at: charlesupham@gmail.com."

Upham was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Female for Frozen River in which she played an illegal immigrant trafficker. She played the family housekeeper in August: Osage County.

The Hollywood Reporter spoke with Upham's father, who said he fears his daughter is suicidal. Richard Kerner, her manager, brusquely told THR before hanging up the phone, "I don't know anything about it. I don't know that there's any reason to suspect that it's an issue. That's all I can say."
