The Hollywood Reporter has been hot on the tail -- er -- trail of Dog News Daily’s inaugural Golden Collar Awards, the first awards show to honor canine actors in films and on television.

THR exclusively reported the nominations on January 18, when Uggie, the adorable Jack Russell actor famous for his role in the Oscar-nominated silent film, The Artist, was on hand, er, paw to announce the nominations at the Egyptian Theatre.

Since then THR has tracked the Golden Collar awards race closely as rival films Hugo and The Artist, vied for top dog position. After Oscar-nominated Hugo director Martin Scorsese openly complained about the omission of his Doberman dog star Blackie in the Golden Collar Awards, THR reported exclusively about the Dog News Daily Facebook page write-in ballot. THR also broke the story about Uggie's imminent retirement from feature films,  the negative PR campaign rumors of Blackie’s performance being CGIed and was also first to break the news  of a tie in a top dog category. Another exclusive: the news that Uggie has been rehearsing an Oscar skit with host Billy Crystal.

The Hollywood Reporter was also on hand last week for the unveiling of the award, a spectacular gold and Swarovski crystal collar on a stunning paw-shaped Plexiglass holder. And we got the poop scoop on that 20-minute anchovy paste-fueled kissing scene between Blackie and his Hugo costar Emily Mortimer that ended up on the cutting room floor.

The 1st Annual Golden Collar Awards ceremony takes place on Monday (Feb. 13)  at 7:00 p.m. PST at  the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles.  Charlize Theron will receive the Golden Collar’s Humanitarian Award and Director Michael Vance has earned The Legends Honorary award.

THR.com will be exclusively live streaming the event Monday night starting at 5:30 p.m. PST. THR.com editor Joseph Kapsch will serve as the red carpet's co-host along with Dog News Daily's Brie Strohmeyer and FilmFreak's Leo Quinones and THR contributing editor Elizabeth Snead will be on paw -- er --hand to report on the red carpet action and talk with the winners – and the losers – after the dog show.
