Is London Film Critics' Circle Awards' Attendees List the Winners in Disguise?
Roll call of guests for next week’s shindig are strong contenders in categories they are nominated in.
LONDON – The expected guests list sent out to the media ahead of next week’s London Film Critics’ Circle Awards ceremony reads like a roll call of hot favorites for the nods, perhaps even eventual winners.
Michel Hazanavicius, director of The Artist, is expected to attend for the shindig January 19 having been nominated in both the film of the year and best director categories.
Only fellow director Lynne Ramsay, nominated alongside Hazanavicius for her work with We Need To Talk About Kevin, is mentioned as an expected guest.

Ramsay’s film also enjoys a nomination slot on the ceremony’s British film of the year list.
Michael Fassbender, nominated for his turn in Shame in the best actor and in the British actor of the year category for A Dangerous Method and Kenneth Branagh for his supporting role in My Week With Marilyn are both expected to attend.
Fassbender will have Jean Dujardin in the room for his turn in The Artist in the best actor category but no mention yet of George Clooney (The Descendants), Ryan Gosling (Drive) or Gary Oldman (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) on the expected list in that category.

Another hot favorite for a nod on the night is Olivia Colman, nominated in the British actress of the year category for her role in both The Iron Lady and Tyrannosaur.
Again, no mention for Carey Mulligan (Drive and Shame), Vanessa Redgrave (Anonymous and Coriolanus), Tilda Swinton (We Need To Talk About Kevin) or Rachel Weisz (The Deep Blue Sea) on the list of names hoping to get flashbulbs popping.
Surely Asif Kapadia, the director of documentary sensation Senna about the famous Formula One racing driver Ayrton Senna, is in pole position to see his efforts rewarded in the documentary of the year.
Time will tell if the expected guests who end up rocking up on the night at the BFI Southbank fulfil the promise of putting their names down early for spaces on the night.
The London Film Critiics’ Circle Awards will be dished out at a ceremony held at the BFI Southbank in aid of the BFI Archive.
