Michael Fassbender, Chris O’Dowd Among The Names Set to Flit Between Irish Academy and British Academy Film Nods
Irish Awards scheduled for Feb. 11 in Dublin with British Academy shindig set for Feb. 12 in London.

LONDON – Michael Fassbender and Chris O’Dowd are among the faces staring down the prospect of two big awards ceremonies in one weekend.
Both are scheduled to attend the ninth annual Irish Film & Television Awards, presented by the Irish Film and Television Academy, on Feb. 11 in Dublin before jumping on a plane to the British capital for Feb. 12’s Orange British Academy Film Awards.
Fassbender, nominated for his role in Shame at both the Irish and British Academy’s acting categories and O’Dowd, noted by both for his turn in Bridesmaids and The Crimson Petal and The White at the Emerald Isle’s shindig, are due to attend both ceremonies.
Broadcasting primetime on Irish television, RTÉ One at 9.40 p.m., IFTA 2012 will also enjoy the company of Brendan Gleeson (The Guard), Brenda Fricker (Albert Nobbs), Brían F. O'Byrne (Mildred Pierce, Prime Suspect), Stephen Rea (Underworld Awakening), Ruth Negga (Shirley, Misfits), Maria Doyle Kennedy (Corp + Anam, Albert Nobbs), Liam Cunningham (The Guard) and Antonia Campbell Hughes (The Other Side of Sleep) among others.
The Irish Academy will also play host to Irish filmmakers including Terry George (The Shore), Jim Sheridan (Dream House), John Michael McDonagh, Thaddeus O’Sullivan (Stella Days, Into the Storm), Rebecca Daly (The Other Side of Sleep) and Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes).
Veteran Irish actress Fionnula Flanagan (Some Mother’s Son, The Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood) will be on hand to receive a lifetime achievement award from the Irish Academy also, organizers said.
