New 'Descendants' Trailer Plays Up Positive Reviews (Video)

The new trailer for Alexander Payne's upcoming movie The Descendents is playing up the rave reviews the film has been receiving from its screenings on the film festival circuit.

The movie stars George Clooney as the head of a family in Hawaii who must deal with the death of his wife and the decision of whether or not to sell off the family's extensive land on the island.

"George Clooney gives the performance of his career," says Matt Goldberg of Collider.com.

And Peter Sciretta of SlashFilm writes, "The Descendents will drive you to tears and have you laughing seconds later."

THR's awards expert Scott Feinberg has said the film will likely be a contender for the SAG Award for best ensemble cast. He also puts the film as a frontrunner in the best picture Oscar race, Payne as a frontrunner in the director race, Clooney a frontrunner in the actor race and Shailene Woodley in the supporting actress race.

The Fox Searchlight film is set to be released Nov. 18.
