Awards Show Goes to the Dogs
Dog News Daily - we're not kidding - is putting on the inaugural Golden Collar Awards for acting by dogs in film.

This year in movies has really belonged to the dogs: From Uggie in The Artist to Cosmo the Jack Russell in Beginners to Blackie in Hugo, canines have played a big part in awards-season movies. So now there will be a whole awards show going to just dogs.
Dog News Daily, the pet industry’s leading digital media and marketing company, just announced the 1st Annual Golden Collar Awards for Best Achievement in Acting by Dogs in Film during 2011.

The nominations will be announced Wednesday during an 8 a.m. PT news conference from the dog hotel to the stars, The D Pet Hotel on HIghland Avenue in Hollywood. And who better to make the announcement than Uggie, along with Penelope Ann Miller, from The Artist? Canine nominees will be selected in three categories:
Best Dog in a Theatrical Film
Best Dog in a Foreign Film
Best Dog in a Direct-to-DVD Film
The names of the recipients for the two honorary Golden Collars, the Lifetime Achievement Award and the Humanitarian Award, will also be announced. The awards themselves will take place Feb. 13 at the Hotel Palomar in Westwood, a dog-friendly Kimpton Hotel.
The evening will kick off with red carpet arrivals and a private cocktail reception benefiting Los Angeles-area dog-rescue organizations and shelters.
