Carrie Fisher's sidekick, the French bulldog Gary, is the king canine of Cannes. (At least until the Palm Dog is awarded at the end of the festival.)

The Star Wars actress, in town to promote the doc Bright Lights, about her and her mother, Debbie Reynolds, has her 4-year-old pet with her at all times. He was seen perched on a cushion during a news conference, walking the carpet by Fisher's side and tagging along at her May 15 THR photo shoot.

Fisher says the therapy dog can be "difficult sometimes" but is "very attached to me" and has "two passports full of stamps" (he recently attended the White House Correspondents' Dinner and the Tribeca Film Festival).

Still, things don't always go smoothly for this globe-trotting pooch. Sometimes he requires shots when he visits certain countries, such as England, and "he had an accident in the London airport once that was significant," she says. "I was alone and it was a scramble."
