'Friday Night Lights' Reunion: How Much Did ATX Spend to Renovate Panther Field?
ATX Television Festival — an annual celebration of the small screen held in Austin — gathered the cast and creators of NBC's beloved football drama Friday Night Lights 10 years after its premiere for a very expensive reunion at a restored Panther Field on June 10.
Just how pricey?
Festival organizers spent $10,000 renovating Panther Field, which included trimming grass more than two feet tall across the field, and freshening up old lockers and other locations in the neighboring field house featured on the show, which were on display for fans as part of the event. (Worth noting: The field was in such poor condition that NBC's Revolution filmed one of its apocalyptic scenes there.) The event — the last ATX will have for Friday Night Lights for the time being — included a tailgate and pep rally in which co-star Jesse Plemons performed with his show-featured band, Crucifictorious.
Castmembers in attendance included Connie Britton, Gaius Charles, Scott Porter, Adrianne Palicki, Matt Lauria, Brad Leland and Plemons along with series creator Jason Katims, who had no idea until he arrived that the reunion was taking place on the same field where all five seasons of his beloved show were filmed.
“Friday Night Lights is a show close to our hearts and has been special to the festival since year one, so we wanted to celebrate the 10-year anniversary on Panther Field, the place it all happened, as a way to honor the show, and the fans who love it as much as we do," ATX co-founders and executive directors Caitlin McFarland and Emily Gipson tell THR.
Full hearts indeed.
