What happens when a female Oscar winner and a power lawyer surprise a legendary newsman in a men's restroom? During the first break of a four-hour program at Women in Film's Crystal + Lucy Awards on June 13 at The Beverly Hilton, a huge wave of attendees bolted for the bathrooms, including Lupita Nyong'o — on hand to present the BMW Dorothy Arzner Directors Award to Mira Nair — and her lawyer, Nina Shaw.

With most of the nearly 900 guests female at the Max Mara and BMW-sponsored affair, the line for the ladies' room was epic, so a male guest rushed over to check the men's room and ushered a few women inside. As Nyong'o and Shaw were using the stalls, honoree Dan Rather came in to relieve himself, only to meet Nyong'o at the sink moments later. As they all walked out, Chaz Ebert made her way inside.

Note to organizers: Take a cue from the GLAAD Media Awards, held in the same International Ballroom on April 1, and convert the facilities to "All Gender Restrooms."
