Kobe Bryant's Final Lakers Game Gets CAA Premium Experience Treatment
In January, CAA Premium Experience — a division of agency powerhouse Creative Artists Agency — announced a partnership with iRENA International, a China-based sports hospitality and event management company, to offer customized VIP experiences in the worlds of basketball, tennis, entertainment and fashion.
One of the partners' first projects has a lot to do with retiring Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant. Patrick Courrielche, a rep for iRENA, filled The Hollywood Reporter in on the details.
Coinciding with the legendary No. 24's last game (tonight at 7:30 p.m. PT at Staples Center) following a storied two-decades-long career, iRENA and CAA Premium Experience set up a travel and entertainment package that included a "Basketball Fantasy Camp" and tickets to the game. About those tickets: Seating is dependent upon the type of package purchased with offerings from floor seats on up. Fans could spend upwards of $25,000 in some cases to see Bryant take his final bow.
So what are CAA and IRENA's guests paying? A rep for the latter company declined to divulge details or a specific dollar amount. However, a source with knowledge of such a package says that top-tier experiences like this can go for approximately $10,000.
More than 100 guests paid for the package and attended the camp, which featured Lakers players D'Angelo Russell and Julius Randle and was led by shooting coach Rich Marcucci. The latter has coached star players like Bryant, Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Durant. Basketball commentator Doris Burke and Chinese star Betty Zhou hosted the outing.
Retired NBA stars Rick Fox and Jalen Rose also were in the mix, on hand to welcome the Chinese group at Perch in downtown L.A., where they witnessed a performance group of tai chi basketball players with an appearance by Shan Jiang. Among the guests in the group were actress Lin Xilei, singer Ping An and Olympic speed skater Li Jianrou.
