Lindsay Lohan Cancels Planned Toronto Film Festival Appearance
Plans were in place for Lindsay Lohan to be in Toronto for a party on Sept. 13 to promote her next film Inconceivable, which would’ve been the second festival stop for the actress who first announced the Jonathan Baker-directed film at Sundance in 2014.
Sources close to the film — due to start shooting in October with Randall Emmett and George Furla producing alongside Mike Burns — say that Lohan backed out and “couldn’t make it” at the last minute due to scheduling conflicts, though it’s unclear what other commitments she has at the moment. She posted a photo on Instagram on Sept. 11 wearing four Hublot watches on her wrists in a pic that appears to be an advertisement for the luxury watchmaker.
More believable is the fact that Lohan, who has an extensive rap sheet and has spent time behind bars, likely would not have made it through customs as Canada has strict policies on not allowing visitors in the country with a criminal record. Though Canada did ease those restrictions in 2012 with the implementation of an application and $200 fine, it still can be a challenge for multiple offenders, especially if they have spent time behind bars or have been convicted of DUI, both of which are on Lohan's record.
Per Canadian law, visitors may be found "criminally inadmissible" to the country for reasons such as "theft, assault, manslaughter, dangerous driving, driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol and possession of or trafficking in drugs or controlled substances."
Meanwhile, Baker also was scheduled to be present at the event and to meet with buyers along with Lohan, but since she backed out, he stayed home to continue prepping the film. Page 6 reported Lohan refused to travel to Toronto unless she received a first class plane ticket from Europe.
Lohan’s presence would have given the long-gestating project a shot in the arm. After all, Inconceivable was first announced nearly two years ago during a Sundance press conference that Lohan attended with Emmett, the film’s producer, financier and longtime friend of Lohan. The 29-year-old actress also is poised to produce the Lionsgate thriller, whose plot details have been kept under wraps.
Attempts to reach a rep for Lohan were unsuccessful.
