Rob Lowe knows what people think of his face because instead of saying it behind his back, they just go straight to the source. "Guys who are my age look to me and say, 'Dude! What the heck? You look like you are still on St. Elmo's Fire," says the 51-year-old actor (his birthday is March 17), recalling a film that is now more than 30 years old. "I can say, well, this is what I know, this is what I've learned, these are my tricks of the trade."

Standing on the terrace of Montage Beverly Hills' private Whiskey Bar Ten Pound, the star of Fox's The Grinder then points to a perfectly positioned selection of products from Profile, his Nordstrom-exclusive line of men's grooming products that has just expanded to include its first cologne, 18 Amber Wood. It smells just as good as he looks and even better, after the 10-minute product presentation for a small press audience, Lowe is game to play along with a rapid fire round of Rambling Reporter's random interrogation.

Here goes ...

Last night I ... got an almost full night of sleep.

The show I can't wait to binge watch is ... The People vs. O.J. Simpson.

The role I most wish I had played is ... Tom Cruise’s part in Top Gun.

I can't wait to work with ... Steve McQueen.

If I had to switch careers tomorrow, I would be ... a real lawyer.

The best vacation I've ever taken was to ... Bora Bora.

The last phone call I returned was to ... the Profile lab.

The last time I cried was because ... my son was going away to college.

Life after 50 is … the most satisfying, fun and interesting phase of my life yet. By far — there's not anything that comes close to it.

My house is on fire and I have five seconds to get out. The items I must grab are ... a pair of jeans, my vintage Sears & Roebuck motorcycle boots, my watch collection, a t-shirt and I’m good to go.

What I love about Hollywood is ... one phone call can change you life.

What I loathe about Hollywood is ... one phone call can change your life.

When I'm gone, I hope people will say ... he was a good man, a good father, a good husband and not a bad actor.

The question I wish someone would ask me is … will you be my running mate?
