Damien Lay's new film Game of Aces — an action drama starring Chris Klein and Victoria Summer that centers on the rescue attempt of a German traitor during World War II set against the backdrop of the Arabian desert — provided the inspiration for an afternoon tea party Tuesday hosted by Summer at the Hancock Park residence of the British Consul-General.

But beyond the big screen, the party itself ended up inspiring revelers thanks to the presence of some courageous teen cancer survivors who attended the bash and shared their respective stories of resiliency in the face of life-altering diagnoses. More than $27,000 was raised to benefit the L.A.-based Teen Cancer America at the event, which was sponsored by BMW and attended by Lay, Klein, Russell Simmons, Jeremy Piven, Terrell Owens, Sofia Milos, Amaury Nolasco, socialite Nikki Haskell, designer Christopher Guy, fashion designers Wolk Morais and celebrity stylist Elizabeth Stewart.

Summer, who also performed an acoustic set with singer-songwriter Taylor Carol (also a teen cancer survivor), teamed up for the bash with partner Lawrence Charles of luxury tea purveyor Charles & Company, which provided sample teas for guests. But in addition to sipping Charles & Company delights, the well-heeled crowd was treated to Champagne Lanson, small vegan bites prepared by the family chef of the British Consulate-General, floral escapes by Grand Eclair and gifts courtesy of Voluspa Candles, Champagne Lanson, Charles & Company and Teen Cancer America.
