Why Bryce Dallas Howard Can't Stop Texting 'Jurassic World' Director Colin Trevorrow
Universal hauled in more than $1.6 billion when it relaunched its epic Jurassic Park franchise with 2015's Jurassic World, but it also wrangled an actress who not only held her own against the dinosaurs, but can't wait to get back in that world.
Bryce Dallas Howard admits to The Hollywood Reporter that she is, in fact, so excited she can't stop texting Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow, who wrote the most recent Jurassic film and is on board to write the next one.
"I text him every day, pretty much, with messages like, 'OK, what are you doing now? What are you writing now?' " she laughs while standing on the red carpet at the MPTF's recent Reel Stories, Real Lives event.
While the actress didn't mention what Trevorrow reveals in his replies, it is known that an early 2017 start is projected with a June 22, 2018, release date already stamped on the calendar. It was also revealed earlier this month that The Impossible director J.A. Bayona will direct the sequel.
Trevorrow still has a lot that he could include in his texts as he's writing the screenplay with frequent collaborator Derek Connolly. That said, it would be understandable if he kept his texts brief. He's also juggling Star Wars: Episode IX, which he will direct from a script he co-wrote with Connolly, and his The Book of Henry will roll out sometime in 2016, as well.
But about that 2017 start date, Howard jokes that it's still too far away. "I cannot believe it's a year away, but everyone is like, 'Oh that's soon,' and I'm like, 'No! That's too long!' " she says. "I'm very excited to do it again and get the family back together again."
That doesn't mean she's sitting at home counting days, though. Howard next stars in Gold and the reboot of Pete's Dragon.
