Brothers & Sisters
EmptyAirdate: 10-11 p.m. Sundays, Sept. 28 (ABC)
A new season of gloriously soapy stories gets underway on "Brothers & Sisters," a show that proves conclusively that the family that fights each other delights each other.
In the opener, a cluster of secrets is exploded during what is supposed to be a fun family weekend at a Laguna beach house. Maybe the biggest of these is that brother Kevin (Matthew Rhys) and his expensive law firm are to be fired in order to cut expenses at the financially-strapped family business.
Such bad timing. That beach house belongs to one of the partners. Kevin got to use it as a reward for all that new business he was bringing the firm.
I counted three other secrets -- roughly one per sibling -- all of which are juicy enough to get played out over the course of the season. In other words, "Brothers & Sisters" is off to a flying start.
Have you been thinking about watching but you're reluctant because you've already missed so much Walker Family drama? Jump on in. The season premiere is cleverly written so as to provide a quick primer for newcomers.
