Real-life father and son pair Martin Sheen and Emilio Estevez unite for the film The Way. Sheen stars in the film, which Estevez directed. Estevez also plays Sheen’s character’s son in the drama.

Tom (Sheen) plays a doctor who travels to France when his son (Estevez) dies walking the Camino de Santiago, a pilgrimage to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, Spain. Tom decides to walk to journey with his son’s ashes. Along the way, he meets others on a journey, both physically and emotionally.

REVIEW: The Way

The Way premiered at the Toronto Film Festival last year, and will open in theaters October 7, 2011.
