Naomi Watts and Matt Dillon have been set to star in Sunlight Jr., an indie drama that has just begun principal photography in southern Florida.
Written and directed by Sherrybaby filmmaker Laurie Collyer, the film follows a pregnant convenience store clerk (Watts) and her paraplegic boyfriend (Dillon) after she loses her job and they fall into poverty and homelessness.
Original Media’s Charlie Corwin (Half Nelson) and Freight Yard Films’ Andrea Roa are producing with Empyrean Pictures' Ariel Elia. Joshua Skurla is an executive producer, as are Billy Dietrich and Simon Fawcett, who arranged the financing.
Repped by CAA and Untitled Entertainment, Watts will next appear in J. Edgar, which opens the AFI film festival November 3. She recently starred in Dream House and Fair Game.
Also repped by CAA and Untitled, Dillon most recently starred in Takers, Armored and Old Dogs. He has the indie comedy Imogene forthcoming.
