'Squid and the Whale' Producer Options Baseball Comedy Script

Andrew Lauren Productions, one of the companies behind The Squid and the Whale, has optioned The Unnatural, a script from Ashley S. Meyers and Nathan Ives.

The Unnatural centers on an aspiring baseball player who has no athletic talent but refuses to let that stop him from trying to become a professional star.

Andrew Lauren, chairman of his namesake New York-based company, was an executive producer on 2005's Squid, which was written by Noah Baumbach and netted him an Oscar nomination for best original screenplay. 

Meyers and Ives co-wrote and executive produced the 2008 indie comedy Man Overboard.
