The film premiered Jan. 19 at the Sundance Film Festival in the U.S. Dramatic section and will also screen next month in Berlin’s Panorama section.

Directed and written by Stacie Passon, the film's cast includes Robin Weigert, Maggie Siff, Johnathan Tchaikovsky, Julie Fain Lawrence, Emily Kinney and Laila Robins.

The Weinstein Co.'s Radius label acquired North American rights to Concussion on Jan. 21. A small theatrical release is planned, as well as a day-and-date VOD rollout, sources said. The film will get an early-fall release.

Produced by Rose Troche and executive produced Anthony Cupo and Cliff Chenfeld, the film centers on Abby, an attractive forty-something wealthy housewife who, after getting smacked in the head by her son’s baseball, walks around every corner of her suburban life to confront a mounting desire for something else, something more. Determined to take on a new project, she buys a pied-à-terre in Manhattan. But walking around the city streets reminds Abby of what it feels like to be sexy and her pent-up libido compels her to invent a secret double life that draws her deeply into the world of high-end prostitution for women.

"For a first time director and writer, Stacie Passon is so self-assured," Content's John Schmidt and Jamie Carmichael said in a statement. "The writing is crisp and smart, the casting is perfect and all the performances hit the right notes."

In 2012, Concussion was chosen for the Independent Feature Project’s narrative lab. Additionally, Concussion received the Adrienne Shelly Director’s grant and the Calvin Klein Spotlight on Women Filmmakers Live the Dream grant at the Gotham Awards.

Content will be selling international rights at the next month's Berlin market.

Content titles include The Numbers Station, toplined by John Cusack and Malin Akerman; The Machine, starring Caity Lotz and Toby Stephens; and Mea Maxima Culpa: Silence in the House of God from Alex Gibney.
