WHY SHE MATTERS
Fashion-forward without being edgy just for the sake of it, Slutsky takes risks with her young client Emma Watson that have led to acclaim for looks like her dress-over-pants ensemble at the Golden Globes.
The 27-year-old Chicago native graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a fashion degree, then headed to New York to be a Vogue assistant before freelancing as a styling assistant for Tory Burch and Madewell. Slutsky first teamed with Noah actress Watson a year ago. “She’s very young and very cool,” says Watson, who also is based in New York City.
HER TOP LOOK
Watson’s navy wool cigarette pants peeking out from under a backless red silk dress for the Globes (No. 43). The actress’ daring Christian Dior Couture, which she accessorized with an equally edgy single pearl earring (the “lone-lobed” trend), blew up the Twittersphere. “I was a little nervous about it for a big awards show,” says Watson. “I had another option in case I chickened out, but I didn’t.” Every bit as chic was Watson’s metallic-flecked knit Vera Wang gown at the Oscars with an Anita Ko ear cuff.
