  2. Comcast signs Chelsea Handler to new deal

Handler also is establishing a new company, Borderline Amazing Prods., which will have a first look-deal with Comcast’s suite of cable networks. </p><p>"It is a unique pleasure to work with someone as extraordinarily talented, smart and, of course, funny as Chelsea," said Lisa Berger, executive vp original programming and series development at E! " ‘Chelsea Lately’ is a breakout hit that has significantly grown E!’s late-night audience, particularly among young women."</p>Read more

  8. Sci Fi Channel founder bashes name change

He would have said (we believe): &#39;That&#39;s just plain dumb.&#39;&quot;Rubenstein, along with his partner Laurie Silvers, were Boca Raton entrepreneurs who conceived of a sci-fithemed cable network, then sold the concept to USA Network in 1991.&#0160; </p><p>Rubenstein and Silvers now own Hollywood.com, where he <a href="http://www.hollywood.com/news/SyFy_Say_Its_Not_So/5414665">posted the protest yesterday</a>. The rest of Rubenstein&#39;s open letter gives you a pretty clear sense of sci-fi community sensitivity, and if anything should comfort the cable network&#39;s executives that this too shall pass. Back in the early &#39;90s, apparently even calling a network the Sci Fi Channel was met with outrage.</p>Read more

    <p>Network executives may have Barack Obama fatigue, but viewers apparently still want to hear the commander in chief discuss the economy on TV during primetime. CBS News&#39; interview with the president gave &quot;60 Minutes&quot; its best rating in weeks and may have boosted lead-out &quot;The Amazing Race.&quot;</p><p>With 52 minutes of NCAA basketball overrun muddying the ratings, &quot;60 Minutes&quot; (16.2 million viewers, 4.1 preliminary adults 18-49 rating and 11 share) had a strong number, followed by an improved &quot;Race&quot; (11.6 million, 3.2/8). &quot;Cold Case&quot; and &quot;The Unit&quot; (average for the hour: 10.8 million, 2.4/6) followed.</p>Read more
