CBS Corp. Faces Sexual Harassment Lawsuit From Former Sales VP
The plaintiff says that female managers at CBS Radio weren't treated equally.
Kathryn Pavelonis, former vp-director of sales at several CBS affiliate radio stations, is suing CBS Corp. for gender discrimination.
She worked at the company from April 5, 2004, until she was fired on Aug. 23, 2011.
According to a lawsuit filed in Missouri state court, female managers at CBS less favorable treatment than male managers. Among her complaints is that she and other female employees were excluded from corporate-related social events and assigned heavier work loads.
Pavelonia says she was fired for "serious misconduct," and the complaint doesn't specify further.
But she says that a male manager who engaged in the same alleged misconduct wasn't fired and that she was replaced by a male.
In February, she filed a complaint at the Missouri Commission on Human Rights, which according to the complaint, issued a "Right to Sue" in July.
Pavelonia is claiming lost wages and further damages for alleged emotional distress and mental anguish.
She's also suing John Sheehan, her former supervisor.
CBS Radio responded in a statement, "“We believe Ms. Pavelonis’s claims are without merit and we intend to vigorously defend the lawsuit.”
