Fox Networks' Claudia Teran Named Fox Sports General Counsel
Fox Networks Group is increasing evp and deputy general counsel Claudia Teran's responsibilities, appointing her general counsel of Fox Sports.
She will continue to report to FNG's evp and general counsel Rita Tuzon, who announced Teran's new position on Wednesday. Teran's promotion continues the consolidation of FNG's business and legal operations that began in 2011, when she was appointed evp business and legal affairs and deputy general counsel.
She already supervised the network's international sports portfolio, with which she'd worked in her previous role as svp business and legal affairs and associate general counsel for Fox Cable Networks. In her new role, she'll lead Fox's acquisitions of domestic and international sports rights, and she'll oversee the negotiations and acquisitions of Fox's sports business in Latin America, Europe and Asia.
"Claudia has demonstrated an extraordinary ability to ensure that both the company and our team, league, association, and conference partners benefit fully from our efforts," Tuzon said in a statement. "In a new and expanding multi-platform world she and her tremendous team will play an even more vital role as we expand our ability to bring the most exciting live sports coverage to every corner of the globe."
A former transactional attorney at Sidley & Austin, Teran joined Fox in 2000 as a business and legal affairs director for Fox Sports International. She received her law degree from New York University.
Fox's restructuring over the past couple of years to streamline its business and legal affairs roster has involved the promotions of several execs on the senior sports legal team that will report directly to her, including Leanna Einbinder, Phillip Gharabegian and Peter Marco. Rounding out Teran's team are Robert Hacker and Kai Dhaliwal.
