Hollywood Docket: DGA Promotes Duo; Stroock Adds Partner; Stacey Snider to Keynote USC Law Symposium

Ray LaSoya

A few odds and ends:

  • The Directors Guild has shuffled its legal department: David Dreyfus has been named general counsel, a promotion from associate general counsel. Tiffanie Baker has been promoted to assistant general counsel to fill his spot. The moves come a few days after the guild's Russ Hollander, David Korduner and Bryan Unger were promoted to associate national executive directors.
  • USC has set the big speakers for its annual Entertainment Law Symposium, and as usual it's a great group. DreamWorks co-chairman and CEO Stacey Snider is the keynote speaker; she'll participate in a lunchtime conversation with the symposium's chair Bruce Ramer. Sony's Michael Lynton and the general counsel of the U.S. Copyright Office are highlights from the speaker list. More info on the October 22 event here
  • The entertainment department at LA's Stroock firm has added Ray LaSoya as a partner. LaSoya is a corporate dealmaker who has represented Platinum Equity and Shamrock Capital Advisors, the entity controlled by the Roy E. Disney family.
  • Entertainment litigator Lawrence Hinkle has joined LA's Fox Rothschild firm. Hinkle has represented actors, musicians and others in talent-side litigation.
