NBCUniversal Appoints Yakub Hazzard VP Legal
He will handle profit participation litigation and related matters.
Yakub Hazzard has been appointed NBCUniversal's vp legal.
In his new position, Hazzard will handle profit participation litigation and related matters for the company’s television businesses. He will report to Jamie Lichtman, executive vp and general counsel at NBCUniversal Television & Entertainment.
“Yakub’s legal experience and expertise in the entertainment field will be an invaluable asset to us here at NBCUniversal,” said Lichtman in the announcement.
Hazzard joins the company from Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi, where he was co-chair of entertainment and media. He was previously co-chair of entertainment and media practice at Dreier Stein Kahan Browne Woods & George.
“Yakub has been our partner and friend, and he has made significant contributions to our entertainment litigation practice both as a lawyer and as a law firm and practice group leader. We will miss him and we wish him well in his new position at NBCUniversal,” said Roman Silberfeld, executive board member and managing partner of the Los Angeles office of Robins Kaplan Miller and Ciresi.
Hazzard, son of former UCLA basketball player and coach Walt Hazzard, is a UCLA School of Law graduate and studied at Stanford as an undergraduate.
