Spirit Awards 2013: Film Independent Co-Presidents on Host Andy Samberg

Film Independent co-presidents Sean McManus and Josh Welsh tell THR why the Saturday Night Live alum was selected for the job, and what makes this year's crop of nominees stand out from the rest.

"He was in one of the nominated films, Celeste and Jesse Forever, and this is not the first time he's hosted an awards show so he knows how to do it," says McManus, noting that Samberg's young energy fits right in with the heart of the show. "There's a feeling of camaraderie that you don't necessarily get at other awards programs."
