Dolby will receive its trophy for Dolby Vision postproduction tools, which are used with existing color grading systems to create Dolby Vision HDR versions of a production for cinema and home entertainment. Postproduction system development SGO will be honored for Mistika VR, which supports virtual reality postproduction with a toolset that offers real-time stitching capabilities using SGO’s optical flow technology.
Additionally, honorable mentions will be awarded to Canon U.S.A. for its Critical Viewing Reference Displays and Eizo for ColorEdge CG318-4K monitor.
“Entries for the Engineering Awards were at one of the highest levels ever, on a par with last year’s record breaker, and we saw a variety of serious technologies,” said Efilm vp technology Joachim Zell, who chairs the HPA Awards engineering committee.
