Hamish Linklater is headed to TNT.
The actor has signed on to star opposite Amy Brenneman in the Turner-owned cable network's drama pilot Deadlier Than the Male.
Executive produced by Bruna Papandrea (Big Little Lies), the project revolves around a three characters, each with a mysterious and troubling past: a woman who once looked into the eyes of a dangerous killer; a former serial predator desperate to find redemption; and a grieving mother obsessed with finding her missing daughter. As each of them is pushed to the edge, the truth about their pasts and their motives grows ever murkier, blurring the lines between victim and perpetrator.
Linklater will play John Tyler, a former serial predator who has done his time in prison and is desperate to turn over a new leaf. John finds himself pulled into the grasp of Mary Barlow (Brenneman), a grieving mother searching for her missing daughter, who thinks his "expertise" might be useful to her.
Picked up to pilot in April, Deadlier Than the Male is being produced in-house at Turner's Studio T banner. Papandrea — Reese Witherspoon's former producing partner — will executive produce with Harriet Warner (Call the Midwife, Mistresses), who will pen the script. Casey Haver of Papandrea's Made Up Stories banner will also exec produce.
Linklater's credits include Noah Hawley's Fargo and Legion, The Crazy Ones, The Newsroom and The New Adventures of Old Christine, as well as the TV Land pilot I Shudder. He is repped by ICM and Untitled Entertainment.
