The doc will tell the story of a group of Holocaust survivors who attempted to mass murder Germans after WWII.
Global Road Entertainment has unveiled a new documentary to mark Holocaust Memorial Day.
An hourlong doc from Brit banner Caravan, Avenging Evil has been commissioned by Specialist Factual for U.K. network Channel 4, with Global Road — the new name of Tang Media, which opens IM Global and Open Road — co-producing and looking after worldwide distribution rights.
Avenging Evil (to be called Holocaust: The Revenge) will examine the remarkable story of a secret organization of Holocaust survivors, many of them now in their 90s, who attempted to carry out the ultimate act of revenge in 1946. According to an extraordinary piece of new evidence — a taped recording with key members never before heard in public before — the group attempted to poison the water supplies of three major German cities, with assistance from two future presidents of Israel, and also targeted some 50,000 SS officers being held in prisoner-of-war camps.
The film will ask "profound questions on the nature of justice, vengeance and how human beings might choose to behave when they have been subjected to incomprehensible cruelty."
“This is a fascinating, little-known story that we felt needed to be told and is the perfect first project for us as we set out to build a documentary and factual portfolio alongside our upcoming slate of formats and reality content," said Phil Gurin, president of Global Road’s unscripted and alternative television division. "Working with Dinah Lord’s Caravan in the U.K. demonstrates our approach to international collaboration on subjects that we believe will have a wide global audience."
