Mark Hamill, who's best known for his portrayal of Luke Skywalker, is the face of a new fashion campaign.
The 65-year-old actor stars in Rag & Bone's new "Men's Project" series, which also features Fading Gigolo director John Turturro, Youth star Harvey Keitel, Russian-American dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov and rapper Wiz Khalifa. In a deep-thoughts accompanying video, Hamill waxes poetic about heroes and villains for the New York-based brand led by Marcus Wainwright.
"I wish my life was a non-stop Hollywood movie show," he says in the short clip. "A fantasy world of celluloid villains and heroes, because celluloid heroes never feel any pain and celluloid heroes never really die." At one point, he refers to himself in third person, saying, "Mark Hamill does feel pain and Mark Hamill will die, but Luke Skywalker won't."
"Our goal with the project was to capture each artist’s personality and sense of style. These are guys we genuinely admire — for their talent, their attitude, their style," Wainwright said in May at the time of the project's announcement. "There is nothing contrived about them. They’re totally authentic individuals, but as a group they embody the spirit of the brand." Wainwright became the brand's sole CEO after David Neville departed the company in June.
In August, Hamill shaved his beard, which he kept for Star Wars: The Force Awakens and upcoming Star Wars: Episode VIII. Looks like the Jedi Master's facial hair came in handy for his Rag & Bone gig, too.
