Billy Wilder's 'The Apartment' 4K Restoration Sets U.S. Premiere at Archivists Confab

The U.S. premiere of a new 4K restoration of Billy Wilder’s 1960 film The Apartment will open The Reel Thing, an Aug. 23-25 event in Hollywood hosted by the Association of Moving Image Archivists.

The conference — an annual gathering of Hollywood's preservation, restoration and archiving community — is curated by Grover Crisp, Sony Pictures executive vp asset management, film restoration and digital mastering; and UCLA professor Michael Friend.

Scheduled speakers include AMPAS president John Bailey, Oscar-winning sound designer Ben Burtt and Oscar-winning VFX pro Craig Barron.
