Bruce Doering, retiring national executive director of the International Cinematographers Guild (Local 600), will receive the Governor’s Lifetime Achievement Award from the Society of Camera Operators, which holds its annual Cammy Awards on Feb. 6 at Paramount Studios. Additionally, Steven Manios Sr., former president of Century Precision Optics, will receive the Service Lifetime Achievement Award during the ceremony.

Doering retires this month after 30 years with ICG. He joined the Guild as a business representative in 1985, and was appointed national executive director in 1993. The ICG recently established the Bruce C. Doering Distinguished Service Award for outstanding contributions advocating policies and legislation favorable to labor workers.

Under Manios’ leadership, Century Precision Optics developed periscopes, low-angle prisms, video lens accessories and custom lens conversions widely used in motion picture and TV production. In 1992, he received a Technical Achievement Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for his work in adapting zoom lenses for motion picture use. He also developed specialty lenses and optical devices used by the military and the auto industry.
