There’s a big change coming from two major players in North America's features and TV camera rental business: Keslow Camera is acquiring Clairmont Camera. Additionally, the deal marks the retirement of respected industry veteran Denny Clairmont.

Keslow maintains its headquarters in Culver City, Calif., and has additional facilities in Atlanta, Chicago and Santa Fe, N.M. With the acquisition, Kelsow intends to expand its footprint in the Los Angeles area by folding Clairmont's Burbank headquarters into its Culver City base; into Canada through Clairmont's Toronto and Vancouver bases; and into New Mexico by folding Clairmont's Albuquerque location into Keslow's Santa Fe facility. The terms of the deal, which is expected to close Aug. 4, were not disclosed. Both are privately-owned businesses.

Denny Clairmont, along with his late brother, Terry, established Clairmont Camera in 1976. Denny Clairmont received the 2011 John A. Bonner Medal of Commendation from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, awarded by the Academy Board of Governors upon the recommendation of the Scientific and Technical Awards Committee. For lens innovations, he has also received a Technical Achievement Award from the Society of Camera Operators, as well as two Emmys.

These lenses are part of the Clairmont offing that will more than quadruple Keslow’s anamorphic and vintage lens inventory. With the deal, Keslow also greatly expands its range of custom camera rental equipment.

“This acquisition perfectly aligns with Keslow Camera’s mission — to never stop growing, never stop learning, and never stop improving. The expansion into the two busiest Canadian markets delivers on our clients’ ongoing requests for us to service them in more areas of the world,” said founder and CEO Robert Keslow.

“Clairmont Camera is my life’s work, and I never stopped searching for innovative ways to serve our clients," said Clairmont. "I have long respected Robert Keslow and the team at Keslow Camera for their integrity, quality of management, best-in-class customer service and successful performance. I am confident they are the right company to honor my heritage and founding vision going forward."
