South Korean cinema chain CJ CGV, the largest in South Korea and the fifth largest cinema chain in the world, is expanding in the U.S., with plans to open its third U.S. location — a 14- auditorium multiplex — in downtown San Francisco during early 2020.

This will include a CJ 4DX 4D auditorium with synchronized motion seats and environmental effects such as wind, rain, snow, fog and lightning.

The complex will also offer an auditorium with CJ's Cinerama-like ScreenX, a 270-degree, three-screen multi-projection system that uses a proprietary technique to expand select key scenes of feature films to the left- and right-side walls.

In the U.S., CJ also operates theaters in Los Angeles and Buena Park, Calif.
