In another sign of how industry trade groups are adapting their 2021 convention plans amid the uncertainty of the pandemic, its been announced that the Audio Engineering Society fall convention will co-locate with the National Association of Broadcasters Show, Oct. 11–13, 2021 in Las Vegas.

There's some precedent of collaboration within these groups as the AES fall convention was jointly staged with NAB's regional New York confab from 2017–2019. These events were each held virtually in 2020.

The 2019 NAB Show reported attendance of roughly 90,000. AES has estimated an average of 15,000 attendees for its annual fall conference. There's also some crossover in terms of attendance as well as participation from companies including Avid and Dolby that typically exhibit at both events.

The AES Show will take place at the Westgate Hotel, adjacent to the Las Vegas Convention Center where the NAB Show will be held Oct. 9–13 rather than during its typical April window.

"We are excited to be building the most significant, in-person media and entertainment event of 2021 and are ready to bring the industry together once again at NAB Show in October,” said NAB executive vp of conventions and business operations Chris Brown in a released statement.
